Five years ago I struggled with ring muscle ups in workouts.
This past week, ahead of event 5, I had a conversation with my coach about doing 3 sets of muscle ups - 12/4/4 - with quick breaks in between. During the event, I got to 12 and I told myself “May as well keep going!” So I did 16 then 4 with a small break in between.
I try to be aware of where everyone is around me. When I got to the obstacle course I was surprised to see where I was - and thought - “You better run your ass off hold this spot!”
We are in a sport where we have to adapt within seconds. You have to be willing to take some risks. It may work, and often it may not. But, I’m generally willing to take some risk in hopes that sooner or later it pays off.
