Honorable Dr. Kandeh Yumkella moved a motion at the beginning of parliament today for a special session of parliament to discuss the imment threat of the corona virus and its economic ramifications.
He requested, as part of the motion, that all those in the front line of national emergency preparedness plus the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank should attend the session. He cited Rwanda and Ghana and other countries who have taken preemptive actions before they are afflicted. The motion was supported by Hon Chernor Maju Bah and carried unanimously by the house.
The Hon Speaker in supporting the motion cited section 29 of the 1991 cobinstitution and slated Thursday 19th March 2020 for the special session.
