Welcome to my page! I'm Chinasa T. Okolo, Ph.D., a human-centered AI researcher and AI governance expert. I recently graduated with my PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University, where my research examined how frontline healthcare workers in rural India perceive AI and analyzed how AI explainability can meet the needs of novice technology users in the Global South.
I currently work in AI policy and focus on how governments in the Global South can improve their technical and human capacity to engage equitably in AI research and development. In addition to my work, I serve as an AI Expert with the African Union, an Ethics Advisor to the Equiano Institute, a member of the IEEE Standards Association working group on algorithmic bias, and a contributing member of the ACM US Technology Policy Committee.
