Several things trying to uproot peace in my heart and mind today. Not gonna let it happen. The LORD is my foundation and my stronghold. He will not be shaken.

I've been in the classroom for six days now, and God has already been up to some amazing things:

I've met around 165 students this week.

I'll have to count to find an exact number, but I'm estimating that between 1/3 and 1/2 of them are student athletes. Some of the football players have already started to "harass" me the same way my own 20 year old son does. It's much more fun to have them in my classroom than I expected.

I have at least two students who are Muslim. I pray for them every time they walk through my classroom door, that they will see the truth of Jesus in me.

On the first day, I asked my Death and Dying students to write on their check-in card whether they had experienced the death of a loved one in the past year or two. About half of them had; some told stories that were heartbreaking. I sat and prayed for each one as I read their cards and did my best not to weep.

The A/C in my classroom went out on day 4, so my classes were moved to a different room the next day. That created an opportunity for me to meet a gentleman who shared with me that he had lost his wife of 70 years just a week and a half ago. We talked at length and I prayed over him right there in the classroom. It was absolutely a divine appointment, and I found out later that my dad was praying for me to find someone to minister to that day.

One student wrote on his check-in card that he loved my class. He was not someone I would have expected to say that.❤️

The work load is probably the most challenging thing that I have ever experienced mentally / intellectually, although grad school might be a very close second. But it has also been wonderful and fulfilling, and I think it will just keep getting better as I find rhythms that work.

God is good, and I am so grateful to see Him at work. ❤️❤️❤️
