Freedom.
There's freedom FROM ... not having, doing, or being what you don't want.
There's freedom TO ... have, do, or be what you choose.
In this country we have the luxury of enjoying both types of freedom. It's such a luxury that we don't even think about it most of the time.
We often don't appreciate or take advantage of all the freedom we have.
So many people take freedom for granted ... until it's gone.
Then it's the thing they treasure the most.
Let's celebrate independence! Happy 4th of July!

4th of July isn't the only time you want fireworks. Having fireworks in your marriage (the "oooh and aahhh and I'll have what she's having" kind, not the screaming angry kind!) is what most of us dream of having.
Yet after years of being married, the passion often fades into a lukewarm bowl of relationship oatmeal. It sustains you, but doesn't exactly setting your world on fire.
If that describes your relationship, and you want more (so much more!) I have an article for you. It's all about getting off the fence of an "okay" marriage so you can actually create the relationship you really want!

Discovering that your spouse has cheated can be devastating.
It absolutely guts you.

Becoming the "CEO" of your own divorce is probably not a job you ever thought you'd want to have.
But the truth is, if you don't do it, no one else will.
If you care about your life, and about being able to live the life you want after your divorce, you've got to take charge of your divorce while it's happening.
It's that simple/not simple.

Do you know someone who's struggling to stay married "for the kids?" Or maybe they say, "If it wasn't for the kids, I would have left a long time ago."
Everyone knows that divorce takes an emotional toll on everyone it touches - especially kids.
But what if your choice wasn't simply between staying married and miserable or getting a divorce and making everyone miserable.
If that's what you're thinking, creating a "Parenting Marriage" might be the best way to resolve your dilemma.

Love is the strongest power in the Universe.
It drives us to become more, do more, create more.
Fear can be almost as strong.
It can keep us paralyzed, stuck, and small.
Both love and fear can exist together. We can be terrified of moving forward, yet love can fuel us to move past our fear and live the life we truly want. Or fear can forever hold us back.
The only question is, which one will you allow to drive your life: Love? or Fear?
Creating a fulfilling life after divorce starts with taking one step at a time ... and baby steps count!
In this podcast episode Wangari Kamau, who went through a difficult international divorce, shares her tips and insights for getting through your divorce with dignity and grace. She also talks about the self-care it takes to move forward and heal.
If you're wondering how you're ever going to recover from your divorce, this is a podcast episode you're not going to want to miss!

So often we're told to make decisions with our heads. We're told to use logic. We're told to be rational.
Yet our intuition provides us with a powerful tool to help us make the best decisions possible.
In my recent podcast episode with Intuitive Fran Gallaher, we dive into the world of intuition, and how you can use your intuition to make better decisions.
If you're struggling to make a difficult decision, check out this podcast episode now.

There are a million reasons to stay in a bad marriage even when you know in your heart it's over.
"Now's not the right time to divorce."
"The kids need me."
"We don't have the money."
"I don't want the conflict."
"Maybe things will get better." (... even though you've been waiting for them to get better for YEARS and nothing has changed.)
When you're on the fence about your marriage, you can rationalize almost anything.
Here's one reason to make a decision.
Your health.
So many professionals and business owners are under the illusion that the best way to make important decisions is to be rational and logical. They forget that intuition is equally important.
Fran Gallaher is an intuitive who is also logical and rational. In this podcast episode, she explains how to combine logic and intuition to truly make the best decisions possible no matter what situation you're in.

One of the most terrifying aspects of divorce is that, if you're like most people, you don't really know how divorce works.
You don't know what to expect. You don't know what you should or shouldn't do.
You assume your divorce lawyer is going to tell you everything you need to know about divorce. But that's not what lawyers do.
The truth is that most divorces are only about 10% legal. The rest is financial, emotional, psychological, familial, and practical.
While lawyers "may" be able to help with some of those things, most of them don't have the time or the training to do that.
At upwards of $400 per hour, you wouldn't want them to.
Instead, you turn to Google and ChatGPT, hoping to get answers that way.
The challenge is that technology only does what you ASK it to do. When you don't know the right questions to ask you don't get the answers you need. (And if you don't ask your questions in the right way, you run the risk that ChatGPT will "hallucinate" answers that aren't even true.)
The biggest problem with not understanding how the divorce system works or knowing what to do is that you lose the power of anticipation. You end up REACTING instead of ACTING.
You have no plan ... other than simply trying to survive. You make mistakes simply because you didn't know what you were doing.
Without meaning to, you make your divorce harder, uglier, and more expensive.
But what if there was "something" that could put you back in the driver's seat of your divorce, and your life? What if there was a tool that could help you get ready for what was coming, make a plan, and dial DOWN the drama in your divorce?
That "something" is The Divorce Road Map 3.0. It's coming out in the fall, but if you act now you can get BOTH The Divorce Road Map 2.0 AND The Divorce Road Map 3.0 ... all for less than what you'd pay for ONE HOUR of attorney's time.
Check this out before the offer goes away on June 10.
https://karencovy.com/road-map-3-0/

The scariest thing about divorce is not knowing how it works or what the future holds.
The Divorce Road Map Program has guided hundreds of people to divorce with less conflict, pain, and expense for years. Now it's time for the Divorce Road Map 3.0 to be born.
I couldn't be more excited! (... and I'm sharing a GREAT deal on the program right now.)
If you or someone you know is going through a divorce, this program is a total game-changer. For less than the cost of what you would pay for ONE HOUR of attorney's time, you can discover how divorce works from start to finish AND what you need to do to get through the process with less conflict and expense.
Check it out.

What makes a marriage work? Who would know better than a divorce lawyer?! Check out what I have to say in this Huff Post article.

No one plans to get divorced when they get married.
But it happens.
When it does, you have a choice. You can become an active participant in your divorce (even if getting divorced wasn’t something you ever thought you’d be doing!). Or you can let your divorce professionals run the show and “hope” that everything works out for the best.
Doing the first one is easier.
Doing the second one gives you more control over your life, your divorce, your fees, and even your outcome.
Here’s why.
Getting divorced efficiently requires a team. Getting the best and most nuanced outcome possible requires a team.
Teams need leaders.
Your divorce lawyer is NOT going to be the leader of your divorce team.
They don’t have the time. That’s not their area of expertise. What’s more, even the most diligent divorce attorney isn’t going to care more about your divorce than you are.
As a coach, I empower my clients to become the CEOs of their own divorce.

Loneliness is everywhere in our world. Empirical studies show that loneliness and social isolation increase your risk for cardiovascular disease, dementia, cognitive decline, anxiety and depression.
Yet, loneliness is not the same as social isolation.
You can be all by yourself and be perfectly content.
Or, you can be sitting next to someone you love (like your spouse!) and feel lonelier than you ever have when you were by yourself.
Physical proximity, then, has nothing to do with loneliness.
Emotional distance is what makes us feel so alone.
According to the experts, you can build emotional connection through communication, learning together, laughing together, or just being present with each other. (Really present. As in – no devices around to distract you. THAT kind of presence!)
Have you ever felt totally alone, even when you’re with other people – or when you’re with someone you’re “supposed” to be in a close relationship with?
What have you done about it?
Let me know in the comments.

How do you create a negotiation strategy in your divorce that gives you the absolute best chance of getting what you want?
It starts by knowing what you want.
I know that sounds obvious. It seems like it's too simple.
But as someone who has been a divorce professional for decades and has helped thousands of people navigate through divorce over the years, I can tell you from experience that most people DON'T know what they want.
They're not clear about what their #1 and #2 priorities are.
They may know what they DON'T want, but they never figure out exactly what they DO want. Not surprisingly, they often get through their divorce and wonder why they ended up with a bunch of "stuff" they don't even care about, but DIDN'T get what they really needed to start their new life in the best way possible.
And if you're divorcing a high-conflict person, being crystal clear on your priorities is even more important.
To discover even more tips for how to navigate and negotiate with a high-conflict person, check out this whole podcast episode with the amazing Tracy Malone of Narcissistic Abuse Support Group.
