I havenโt been posting as much lately . Itโs a VERY busy time with guitars & trying to complete orders & repairs.
There are several people who are waiting on their custom Alsip guitars. I want to thank each customer for their patience & support. This is a custom order I recently finished & it should be arriving to its new home on Saturday.
I continue to finish up some other builds & will share photos as they leave the shop. I want to thank God for all my blessings & the glory is all His!
More to come soonโฆ.

Alsip Stringed Instrument Repair
Offering stringed instrument repairs to metro Atlanta at fair prices.
Operating as usual
I always think it is VERY important to share the jobs I do, especially the jobs brought to me that other local repairmen do in the metro Atlanta area.
I caution anyone to make sure the person you hire to do your repair is qualified. Just because they work at a music store or own a music store doesnโt mean they are qualified or able to repair your instrument. This work was attempted at a known music store in metro Atlanta. The gentleman needed his nut replaced & when he picked his guitar up he was surprised to find that his fingerboard was ruined & a $50 job all of a sudden was a major repair.
I can tell you I have received numerous jobs from customers in the last 4-5 years from several different very known music stores & have fixed shotty work. I am not one to blast names nor do I judge people. But it is important to know who you are hiring & what they are capable of.
I hope my post helps save others from running into to issues such as this in my photos. More pix to come as I fix this guitar to its former glory. ๐

Recently this late 1920โs or early 1930โs S.S. Stewart acoustic guitar made its way to the shop. It was bought in Rome, GA brand new & this particular one was actually made by C.F. Martin.
The outer bridge plate was destroyed & the guitar had some loose braces inside, once I got a camera inside I could see the inner bridge plate was loose & needed TLC. I cleaned the guitar up & started removing the outer bridge plate, then found a rectangular patch underneath the outer bridge plate, I removed it & then removed the inner bridge plate. The guitar had the famous belly bulge, after hand making a new maple inner bridge plate, gluing it in& making sure the top was level I fixed the damaged top & handmade a new rosewood outer bridge plate that was slightly oversized. I also bolted the plate with stainless steel machine bolts & nuts. After fret work & setup & new strings this guitar is back better than ever. It plays & sounds AMAZING! The best part about my job is saving music history or making a new instrument.
Awesome stuff! I thank God for the talent He has blessed me with & ALL the glory is Godโs. ๐
I do fret end dresses all the time. This makes the guitar so much more comfortable to play. It gives a smooth silky feel to the neck & is relatively inexpensive to have done. ๐
Working on a old Martin Ukulele in the shop. ๐
It was fixed in the past by drop filling with super glue. I am going to put cleats on the cracks so it has more reinforcement. ๐
Got the first (2) installed. More to comeโฆ..

A Gretsch guitar came through the shop. My job is to take a guitar & make it play the best it can possibly play so the person playing it can play the instrument effortlessly.

A vintage Conrad Beatle bass getting a overhaul. The owner got this bass when he was 15 years old & wants it in tip-top playing condition so he can pass it on to his son. Putting in a new dual action truss rod. ๐ more photos coming soonโฆ.
This is a old Classical guitar a customer has had for years & wanted to get it in great playing condition for his grandson. ๐
This was a interesting repair. A local guy found this old Stella guitar at a yard sale. It had seen better days for certain. The bridge was pulled loose, the action was CRAZY high, applied some heat to straighten out the bow in the neck, the nut needed re-worked & the frets were super tarnished & filthy. Most people donโt realize how amazing these old guitars sound plus how well they can play if setup properly.
After a little work & a couple hundred dollars this guitar was resurrected๏ฟผ. It played & sounded beautiful.
This is a 1970โs Gibson J45 Deluxe repair we did for Atlanta Vintage Guitars. The customer from AVG brought this guitar to us in pieces. The neck was twisted & warped, whoever repaired this instrument previously did a neck reset, fixed cracks in the top & replaced binding but did a very shotty job.
We pulled the neck & fingerboard, took out the original truss rod which was seized up, straightened out the neck with heat, installed a new dual action truss rod, cleaned up & glued the original fingerboard, fixed the loose neck block which caused the top to come loose in places.... which we fixed free of charge, reset the neck, did a complete refret, setup & complete check over. During the inspection we found several others places the top was coming loose & fix those areas as well.
This is proof of what our shop is capable of.
We took a guitar that (2) other well known local Atlanta luthiers wouldnโt touch & brought it back to life plus did this entire job for around $1000.00.
No one else would consider doing the work & โifโ they would have taken the job on, they wanted $2500.00 plus to do the work.
Spencer @ AVG said it played & sound incredible when we delivered the guitar back. He couldnโt believe how well the repair work was.
Please pass the word around, fair prices & quick turnaround times. ๐
As you can see we can even put lipstick on a pig. ๐
Repairing a Gibson J-45 for Atlanta Vintage Guitar. This neck was twisted & needed a new truss rod. We put a high quality dual action truss rod in it & got the finger board glued back on.
More to come as we reset the neck & fix some cracks in the body. Bringing another piece of history back to life in the Metro Atlanta area. ๐
Refret.... yeah, of course we do that!
The 1967 Gibson SG repair is complete. ๐
Now the guitar goes back to Atlanta Vintage Guitars for customer pickup. It was incredible to bring this old guitar back to life & hopefully it will get played for another 52 years. ๐
In for repair today was this 1967 Gibson SG JR.
It originally had a (1) P90 in the bridge position with a volume & tone k**b, a vibrato tail piece. This poor thing has be modified & extra holes drilled in it to change it to a tune o matic stoptail guitar. We are restoring it back to its glory. Canโt wait to post the pics as we restore this thing & of course the finished product. ๐
This is a 1970โs Gibson Les Paul Gold Top I repaired. Someone reset the neck with epoxy & didnโt get the neck in the pocket good. It had a 1/8โ gap between the finger board & body.
Getting the neck separated from the body was very tough due to the epoxy a untrained Luthier decided to use.
We were able to save this piece of music history & it played great once we finished with it. ๐
If you have a stringed instrument you need repaired hit us up. No job is to big or to small. ๐
Gibson Les Paul refinish for a customer. ๐
Guitar was originally flat black. We gave it a bass boat flake with a burst. ๐
A customer brought this guitar by that their dog decided to chew on. ๐
He asked โ Can you fix my guitar?โ
I said โof course, we will have to give it a burst paint job but yes it can be fixed.โ
The photos below show how it turned out. ๐
I canโt begin to tell people how many Gibson headstocks I have repaired. This was a Angus Young SG that arrived brand new & the headstock was snapped off. As you can see, I fixed it & you would never know it was ever broke. ๐
This was a refret I did on a 1968 Fender Strat. The photos show from start to finish. ๐
A customer brought in this Old Martin guitar. The bridge plate was cracked & lifting. He asked if I could repair it & save the original bridge plate.
My answer was โOf course I canโ
A customer brought this Gretsch guitar by with the side busted. We cut the broken piece out, put some new bracing in & put in a new piece of maple on the side. The customer needed the guitar ASAP so he plans to bring it back for paint in the future. ๐
