Last week, the IMPACT Lab at Radford University, in partnership with the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, hosted the Making an IMPACT: Classroom to Career Cybersecurity Summit. The objective of the summit is to strengthen the coordination among regional businesses, K12, local governments, and workforce development agencies to improve outcomes for rural students and build regional capacity for economic development by creating career pathways aligned to high-skill, high-wage or in-demand jobs. “The SWVHEC provided an outstanding venue to hold our U.S. Department of Education funded summit. As a result of the outstanding leadership and staff, we were able to host approximately 120 business leaders, workforce development agencies, K12 teachers, and students to brainstorm how we can create career pathways for rural students in high-demand IT fields.” Dr. Matt Dunleavy, Executive Director, Vinod Chachra IMPACT Lab.
