Harford County is seeking public input on plans for a park system on the Oakington Peninsula between Aberdeen and Havre de Grace. The 1,200-acre county-owned property features natural and historical resources and more than two miles of waterfront along the Chesapeake Bay.

Comments will be accepted by email through June 30 at [email protected]. Please use the subject line “Oakington Park System.”

As part of its planning process, Harford County Parks and Recreation first conducted an assessment of the property which includes Swan Harbor Farm, the Carlson Feltman Conservation Area, Belle Vue Farm, Eleanor and Millard Tydings Park and the Mullins property. A focus group comprised of community, municipal, historic, and environmental groups, and individuals with specific knowledge of the properties then developed summary reports for public review. “I encourage Harford County citizens to review the information online and share their thoughts and ideas with us for the future Oakington Peninsula Park System,” County Executive Bob Cassilly said. “With everyone’s help, this property has the potential for a system of waterfront trails and other uses that will make it a crown jewel in the mid-Atlantic region.”

A prolonged period of hot temperatures and increasing humidity is expected Friday 6/21/24 through the weekend with hottest days most likely Saturday and Sunday. I'm Delegate Steve Johnson in District 34A, congratulationing Edgewood High Schools graduating class of 2024.

The Assisted Outpatient Treatment (was my bill, that I got through the the House last year, and the Governor took up this year) was signed into law. This will give those suffering with severe mental disabilities treatment options other than a life of repeated hospitalizations and jail.

The Maryland Legislative Coalition has highlighted our work in the legislative session of 2024, and we are grateful for the recognition of the crucial legislation we have passed.

Despite the inclement weather, the 17th annual Mae Abraham Legacy Luncheon persevered and raised crucial funds for the Mae Abraham Scholarship Fund, providing essential support for women on their journey towards recovery.

Today, I had the pleasure of attending an event at Havre de Grace Elementary School where 173 students were honored for completing the Patriot Program, which focuses on academic excellence, character building, and community service. It was a delight to see so many students being recognized for their hard work and dedication. Congratulations to all the students on this well-deserved honor!

It was a treat to host my brother, his girlfriend, a friend of his, and his son at an Orioles game Saturday. It was a very close and exciting game to watch. It went 11 innings, and thank goodness we won. My company enjoyed the game and the stadium immensely. I was so glad they all had a good time and that the weather held off until the last couple innings.
