Winter transforms Plitvice Lakes National Park into a breathtaking fairytale. ❄️✨This is, in my opinion, the most beautiful view in the park, featuring the stunning Veliki Prštavac waterfall blanketed in fresh snow.💡 The park is home to 16 cascading lakes and over 90 waterfalls, all interconnected by streams and paths. 💡The waterfalls are created by tufa barriers, which grow slowly due to the interaction of water, air, and plants. 💡The park covers an impressive 296 square kilometers and is one of the oldest national parks in Southeast Europe, established in 1949. 💡In winter, many of the waterfalls, like Veliki Prštavac, partially freeze, forming natural ice sculptures that are truly mesmerizing.
Na voljo še zadnji dobrodelni koledarji!!! 💖🤩 👉👉👉👉Naroči svojega na 👉[email protected] 👈 in si priskrbi prelepo novoletno darilo! 💖 Koledar krasi 13 fotografij z najbolj obiskane fotografske razstave v Sloveniji v letu 2024 - Slovenija: Simfonija razgledov! 🫶Radio Capris 🫶 Studio Matris - Print Shop 🫶 Zveza prijateljev mladine Slovenije - ZPMS
Komna Plateau isn’t just a snowy paradise—it’s a place where nature and history meet. Nestled in the heart of Triglav National Park, this plateau is famous for its deep snow and breathtaking views of the Julian Alps. In fact, Komna once set Slovenia’s record for the lowest temperature, a freezing -49 degrees Celsius!
During World War I, this plateau was a lifeline for the Austro-Hungarian army, with stone mule tracks and barracks still whispering stories of the past. Today, those same paths make Komna a haven for hikers.
And if you’re looking to soak in the magic overnight, Dom na Komni is the perfect mountain hut to rest, warm up, and wait for the morning light to reveal a landscape straight out of a dream. ❄️
Happy Christmas 🎅 Vesel božič ❄️ ❤️
Kraški rob – A Natural Wonder and Geological Treasure of Slovenia - a natural barrier between the Karst and Istria, stretches from the Kluč saddle near Katinara on the outskirts of Trieste all the way to Mlini on the Slovenian-Croatian border. This 20-kilometer-long landscape is known for its steep cliffs, which are occasionally interrupted by gentler sections, creating a unique terrain. Additionally, this stunning region is the result of tectonic forces that have shaped our planet over millions of years. 🌄
How was it formed? The pressure of the African tectonic plate against the European plate, which also caused the rise of the Alps, lifted the Kraški rob from the sea. These tectonic pressures caused the rock layers to fold, break, and overlap in some places, so today older limestone often lies on younger flysch layers. Flysch, which weathers faster than limestone, has created distinctive formations such as rock shelters, overhangs, natural bridges, and scree slopes, which can be admired along hiking trails.
Kraški rob offers numerous opportunities for exploration:
• The Path to Ušesa Istre (Ears of Istria), where natural rock windows provide breathtaking views of the Istrian landscape.
• The Trail Above Kraški rob, connecting Črni Kal and Hrastovlje, takes hikers through stunning vistas and past natural and cultural landmarks, such as the famous church in Hrastovlje.
• The Socerb Trail, leading to a medieval fortress with spectacular panoramic views.
Kraški rob is a true treasure of nature and history, where every step tells a story of tectonic shifts, erosion, and the power of nature. 🧗♀️🌿
🌙 Moonset behind snowy mountains. 🤓👉 Can you name these two peaks in the Slovenian Alps?

Planinsko polje is a stunning karst landscape in Slovenia, known for its dramatic seasonal floods that transform the area into a vast temporary lake. Spanning over 10 km², it’s shaped by underground water systems and the flow of the Unica River, which emerges from Planinska jama and vanishes into over 150 swallow holes. These floods can last few days up to two months, creating breathtaking reflections and a surreal natural spectacle. The flat terrain, formed by centuries of water shaping limestone and dolomite, offers an extraordinary view of karst geology in action. It’s a must-visit destination for nature lovers and photographers seeking unique, otherworldly landscapes.
Brkini, a hidden Slovenian treasure, lie at the crossroads of the fierce bora wind between Istria and the Karst, creating a unique blend of rugged beauty. Often overlooked by travelers on their way from the mainland to the coast, Brkini remain a secret corner waiting to be discovered.
🍁🍂Each fall, wild cherries, birches, chestnuts, oaks, pines, and countless other trees paint the landscape in shades of yellow, orange, and deep red. This stunning harmony of Mediterranean charm and continental ruggedness is nature’s masterpiece. 🌳✨ ❤️At the heart of this breathtaking scenery stands the Church of Saint Socerb in the village of Artviže, proudly perched on the highest point of Brkini.
📸 Did you know❓that lake Jasna is actually made up of two artificially created lakes, a lesser-known fact that surprises many visitors. Situated on the edge of Triglav National Park, it beautifully reflects the majestic Prisojnik and Razor. For those who look closely, you might even spot the smaller Prisojnik Window from Lake Jasna!
In the heart of the autumn forest, something magical happens. Crystal-clear springs suddenly gush out of the ground, right in the middle of the colorful trees. The water has traveled for miles underground, through secret caves, before bursting into life here. These springs feed the mysterious Cerknica Lake, a lake that comes and goes as the seasons change.
Walking through the forest, you can see the water flowing, disappearing, and reappearing, as if nature is playing hide-and-seek. The golden leaves, the cool air, and the sound of rushing water make this place feel like a hidden fairytale. It’s a reminder of how incredible and unpredictable nature can be.
