Weekend only: Boodle Fight special, at ! We ordered the Kanto style and the Karne (pic 3 for what it contains), and we were stuffed!
The was very good, as was lumpiang togue and Chicharon Bulaklak; though I found the chargrilled items a tad sweet.
It was a fun and filling meal, though I wish we had an actual situation with food on the table and we eat with our hands. Maybe we look too timid?! Hahahahaha!
Thanks for the suggestion to go there, .grace78 and .dance.fit. They are my guides!!!

Craving authentic Spanish tapas?
Head to Carlito’s in Joo Chiat, where Chef Carlos Montobbio (from Esquina) brings his favorite Spanish food memories to life! This is a collab with Chef Antonio Miscellaneo of La Bottega next door.

Must-tries:
Mollete
Gilda Pintxo (smoked sardines, pickles & olives)
Arroz Caldoso de Gambas

And don’t miss their Tarta de Queso for dessert!

Aniba is quite the beauty. The interior is chic, the view from the restaurant is pretty, and the food and drinks look incredible.
The menu was recently refreshed to feature Asian, Middle Eastern and European touches.
Some of the items were good - the pan puri, and the tabuleh especially, others perhaps less memorable.
All the same, thanks for inviting me down to try the food and drinks.

One of the most satisfying meals I had in came from a - ChorLand Cookfood Stall (Pak Hoo Mansion)!
You’ll get traditional tasty in the comfort of the insides.
There’s beer too, so that adds to the experience.
I do think anything you order should be at least above average but I was most impressed by the steamed chicken, the pork lard rice, the fried squid, and their veg!

When in , you must eat .
This bowl (HK$45) from Shek Kee Wonton Noodles is so good. Perhaps the best I’ve tasted this trip. The is flavourful, the noodles is just the right texture, and even the soup is slurp worthy.
You can have a wonton & fishball version for HK$55. The fish ball is worth the extra $10!
But this being HK, service can test you. Just eat and run, and chalk it down to “atmosphere”, and you’re good. The highlight is the food anyway.

I discovered I rather like a typical Shanghainese ! Chen Dacheng 沈大成 was down the road from my hotel, so we made it there the moment it opened.
We ordered the pork trotter noodles (pic 1), (original and one with crab 2 & 3), shredded pork spring roll (pic 4), and salty beancurd (pic 5).
My faves were the noodles and the beancurd, but everything was good. I like to start my day with savoury items, and I wasn’t disappointed.
The restaurant is popular and has been around since 1875, and by 930am, the restaurant was full and noisy.
The bill came up to 171 RMB (around $32) for us, which was reasonable considering we ordered a fair bit and left with a reminder to skip lunch.
PS on the way out we spotted a queue outside another window for the pastries, and being true blue kaypohs that I am, I was in the queue in moments and bought a couple of items - a too-sweet red beans mochi thing, and a much more delicious egg yolk/pork floss one (pic 6).

I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal at Paradise Classic, and my meal at its outlet was as good and comforting as usual.
It’s the first time I’ve tried the claypot pork leg and it was good.
The prawn noodles and the steamed kampong never fail.
I don’t know if it’s a recent promo, but if you’re a member, you get a 20% discount on Mondays!

I was torn between and at , so I decided to just order from both. Since they are neighbours anyway.
The was very good, the chicken was ok, the was very good but that soup was on the verge of too salty for me (and I can handle salty).
But I enjoyed both, and it felt great to (once again) forget about calories, sugar or diet!

Ah, - who knew your would turn out as good as your donburi?! The spicy chicken and mushroom melt was so good!!! 🍔

What do you know - you CAN combine helping others with a treat for yourself!
I ordered the Stand Up for Gaza set ($59) for lunch and it was so so so good!
The set is meant for 4 but we were at least 7, and enjoyed it tremendously. The Ayam panggang, the rice and the beef massaman were excellent, but really, everything was above average. Ok, the fish was a tad sweet for me but everyone loved it.
And you’ll rest in comfort knowing that you’re helping out the fund to fund kitchens in Gaza. And I’m also glad to find another source of delicious food. Their other menus also look amazing.
I think this is an amazing initiative, and one worth supporting. But you only have till the end of October. So hurry!

And thanks to for most of the pics (only pic 1 is mine hahahaahaha) cos I was stuck at a meeting, and everyone was getting hungry so my teammates started first.

OUD Restaurant celebrates its 1st birthday with a refreshed menu.
This Muslim-friendly restaurant is headed by helmed by Chef Shah Indra, and the food is cooked on citrus wood to get that extra blast of flavours.
Winning dishes during my invited tasting were the Squid Ink Seafood Paella ($48, pic 1), Pressed Lamb Belly ($38, pic 2), Grilled Octopus ($26, pic 4), KFC or Krispy Fried Cauliflower ($12, pic 6) and the side of Oudfire Mushrooms ($16, no pic but YOU MUST ORDER!)!
Other items on the menu include One of Each (essentially potatoes with toppings, $15 pic 3), Fire-grilled Unagi ($10, pic 4), and Caviar Cornets ($11 each, last pic).
Oud is located in one of Singapore’s coolest area, and if you have been there (🤯 wtf), it is essential for you to make time before or after your meal to stroll around the area.

Seafood restaurant Yang Ming Seafood opens its 1st in-mall waterfront restaurant at VivoCity.
Walking in, you feel like you’re in a kelong. But while that’s fun, it’ll be the food that’s the draw.
There are exclusive dishes too (Fragrant Crispy Rice Crab, (pic 1) and the absolutely delicious Chicken Broth with Baby Cabbage (pic 4).
Of cos the classics from the menu are there: Crab Stewed Beef Hoon (pic 2) and Claypot Fried Dace Fish Kai Lan (pic 5). In fact, almost everything works because it’s hard to resist comfort food.
And till Oct 31, get 50% off selected dishes, limited to one dish per table, on weekdays. Check their socials for details!
PS: thanks for inviting me down for a preview!
