Definitely not the type of news we weclomed, however rising medical claims and advanced medical treatments are some of the contributing factors.
So what are the steps you can do as consumers?
- Review your healthcare needs to see if you really need to uphold the relevant plan type
- Increase your monthly savings budget to factor in medical insurance premiums inflation
- Setup a retirement plan to take care of your medical insurance premiums if you have not done so.

Often, we tend to recall bad memories over good ones.
The processing of positive emotions tend to be quicker than negative ones. Our brains evolved the ability to focus on the negatives, as a way to protect us by detecting threats and avoiding them.
While focusing on the negative can have its merits, it is vital to pay attention to the good things.
A more balanced view can be developed by practising mindfulness, and shifting our attention towards positive experiences.

As I expected when I was having a conversation with a BD from one of our insurance partners over lunch, the media will definitely bring this awareness up again to the general public.
In my view, what are you going to do about this especially for those who may not or does not want to review their existing insurance portfolios?
Pardon my nagging, it’s time to pick up your phone and arrange a review appointment with your trusted financial consultants. If he or she is a responsible one, you will be provided with useful advice/recommendations for consideration.

I’m going to get busy with my mortgage bankers again.
Some banks had not offered fixed rates for a few months already and those still do have been revising their fixed rate packages more frequently than ever.
It may be a challenging time for me to help source for a good rates package. However on the other hand, it is a good time to review and “refinance” your mortgage insurance as I have various insurance partners offering good discounts now.

An interesting article I read recently and the trends mentioned are similar observations I noticed in the recent years.
As a seasoned financial consultant, I have to agree that information found in the social media can be a mixture of true fact or misleading. It’s really up to the individual to be aware and do his/her homework before making any decisions.
I have seen cases where people chose to believe the misleading information (being packaged as a real good deal) and later wished that they did not make those decisions.
So in our world today where information is largely available anywhere, it is best to validate and question the source if need be.

In the last 7 months, I have helped many individuals, couples and business owners in their new mortgage loans, refinancing or cash-out from their existing properties.
Especially in refinancing, one of the main reasons is to save on interests and reduce monthly payments.
Have you ever wonder you can potentially save on your mortgage loan insurance? PM me if you want to have a non-obligatory quote.

In my opinion, all the stakeholders such as the MOH, SMA, MAS, LIA and representatives from the insurers need to sort this out for the long term benefits of our Singaporeans.
The more restrictions/rules being set, they are going to create more confusion and unhappiness. Overcharging, doctors’ issues with certain insurers when comes to claims, wastage etc are not matters that just happen, these have been there and nobody are looking at them serious enough.
I’m a practitioner and also a customer who is affected with all these stakeholders’ arguments.
For a start, MOH should look into those hospitals or independent medical concierge who markets on how to maximize the usage of their IP plans. These are probably the culprits who may have caused all these issues in the first place.
Private doctors question 'highly exclusive' IP insurer panels which exclude many specialists
They say private specialists account for only 21 per cent of all doctors on the panels of many IP insurers.. Read more at straitstimes.com.

- Inform your preferred financial planner to update your policy summary to reflect the changes

I know this is coming, I shared this in my previous few posts on this upcoming changes that will change how we consume healthcare services in the future.
In fact, a couple of years back I already mentioned to some of my closer contacts that this day will eventually come, it is not about will it happen but when it will happen.
As mentioned before, I’m thinking to host multiple webinars to share what are these changes about for the different insurers.
If you are keen to join my sessions, please leave me a comment or DM. Thank you.
