Grand Bassa County third division champions Future Star FC are proving their worth in the ongoing National Third Division Play-Offs in Montserrado County as they climax the phase one of the tournament at the top of Group D.

Future Star FC were paired in Group D with Bondi FC of Gbapolu County, Fenwein FC of Rivercess County and Kwa FC of Rivergee County.

The Grand Bassa County Champions began the campaign with a comfortable 3-1 win over Bondi FC on May 27 at the Anthonette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.

Match day 2 was another celebration day for Coach Ralph Samso boys as they walloped Fenwein FC 5-1 on May 30 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Practice Pitch in Paynesville, before recording a 5-4 win over Kwa FC on Thursday morning June 1, 2023 at the George Weah Technical Center in Caresberg.

The third victory saw the Grand Bassa Champions to the round 16 of the tournament, making them the Group leader with 9 points from 3 games.

On the flip side, Wee Defender FC is yet to record a point having suffered two successive defeats.

With just one game in hand, a win for the Grand Bassa County third division runner up cannot see them through as they are set to return home.

Keita calls-up 25 local players ahead of South Africa’s game

New Liberia coach Ansu Keita has called-up 25 local players to begin training at the Samuel Kanyon Doe sports complex in Paynesville at 7:00AM on 7 February.

Keita said the training is part of his program to prepare for March’s back-to-back qualifiers against South Africa in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

He said the list is subject to changes at any time based on performances of the players during the period of the training.
